SURPLUS OILFIELD WIRE AND CABLE IN WILLISTON, ND

A reel that came off a well pad still has Williston gumbo packed into the lagging. That is the first thing to say about wire in this town: it has been outdoors, it has been moved twice, and the tag may be the only thing that identifies it. Photograph the tag before anything gets cleaned, since washing a reel is how tags disappear.

Service yards here hold more cable than they can use on any one job. A yard crew pulls a 15kV run for a pad that got reconfigured, re-reels what came back, and stacks the drum against a fence. Sellers in Williston send us those drums, along with the control cable and VFD cable that came out of the same shed.

What a service yard accumulates

Three things, mostly. Medium-voltage cable on steel or wooden drums, multiconductor control cable on smaller reels, and portable cord that has been coiled by hand and never tagged. Each one is reviewed differently. Yard material gets stacked, and the drum at the bottom of a stack is the one nobody wants to move. Say which reel you are actually offering.

For the MV drums, we want the jacket legend, the conductor size, and the voltage class. For control cable, the conductor count and the shield type matter more than the length. For the hand coils, tell us the gauge and the approximate diameter and skip the rest. Control cable with a numbered jacket is the easiest to identify, because the numbers survive mud better than a printed legend does.

Cable that sat outside for a winter

Sun and freeze cycles do real damage to a jacket, and in this part of the state a drum can sit through two of each. Cracking usually starts near the flange where the cable bends hardest. Bend the last foot and look before you photograph it.

Water inside a drum is harder to see. If the cable was stored upright without a cover, the bottom wraps can hold moisture for months. Say how it was stored, and whether the ends were taped or left open to the weather. If a drum was stored on its side, the bottom wraps are the ones to check before it is quoted.

Loading and freight from Williston

Everything out of Williston moves on US-2 or US-85, and most of it moves on a flatbed because a loaded MV drum will not fit a van trailer. Forklifts at a service yard make loading quick. If the drum is out at a pad instead, tell us what the road is like in spring.

1. Who is selling
2. Where the wire is

North Dakota locations only. Tell us where the material physically sits, not where your office is.

3. What the wire is
4. Condition, packaging and access
5. Photos
Up to 10 MB total across all photos. Wide shots of the whole lot plus close-ups of reel tags and printed jacket markings move a quote along fastest. Photos are optional — send them later by email if the files are large.

Submitting sends your details and photos to saleselectricalbuyers@gmail.com. We review the material and reply with questions or a pricing conversation. Sending a request does not commit you to sell and does not guarantee a purchase.
