SELL SURPLUS BUILDING WIRE IN RUGBY, ND

US-2 runs straight through Rugby, and most of the wire that leaves here leaves on it. That single highway shapes both the freight and the kind of work that gets done, since a town on a corridor serves the country on either side of it. It also means material can sit for a while before anybody decides what to do with it.

What leaves Rugby usually comes off a shelf rather than out of a warehouse. A coil of MC, a part reel of URD from a service change, cartons of THHN in two or three sizes, and fire-alarm cable left from a building that got a new panel.

Main Street commercial and institutional work

Small commercial jobs leave small quantities, and small quantities are worth describing carefully. A coil of #12 MC that weighs twenty pounds is still a coil of #12 MC, and the size and length are what make it reviewable. A coil of MC carried through a building and back out again will have kinks, and kinks change the length, so mention them.

Institutional work adds fire-alarm cable, which comes on spools and rarely gets used up. If the spool has a footage mark on the wrap, use it. If not, the diameter of the remaining wrap is close enough for a first look. Fire-alarm cable is small enough to fit on a shelf and get forgotten, which is why so much of it survives.

Farm and service wiring

Service changes and farm upgrades produce the heavier pieces. URD in aluminum, SER for a panel, and grounding conductor in #6 and #4. A part reel of URD that has been sitting in a Quonset will have dust in the wraps but usually a sound jacket. URD bought for one service and used for another leaves an odd remainder, and odd remainders are the normal case here.

Check the exposed end before you photograph it. Aluminum that sat in a damp building will show white corrosion there first, and that is the detail to lead with. A part reel that still has its banding is easier to handle and easier to describe.

Loading and freight from Rugby

US-2 is the freight route, and a standard trailer reaches most yards and docks in town without difficulty. We buy from sellers in Rugby, and small quantities move LTL with a liftgate for a residential address. If the material is in a Quonset with a low door, measure the opening before a trailer is booked.

Wire sitting in Rugby?

Send the reel count and a photo of the tags. If it loads with a forklift, say so — it changes the plan.
