SELL SHOP AND TERMINAL WIRE IN JAMESTOWN, ND
A fabrication shop in Jamestown keeps a rack of welding cable whether it needs one or not. Leads get replaced, the old ones get coiled, and after a few years the rack holds more copper than the welders do. Nobody throws out copper, and nobody wants to store it either, so it accumulates in the middle.
That is one half of the story. The other is grain. Terminals and elevators along the rail line run on control cable, motor leads, and 480V feeder, and a control upgrade leaves part spools that nobody wants to store.
Welding leads and shop power
Welding cable is graded by the jacket as much as the copper. A lead with a worn jacket and a good conductor is still usable if the wear is local and the ends are clean. Say where the wear is and how long the lead measures. A lead that has been re-lugged three times has been trimmed at both ends, so its measured length is shorter than the coil suggests.
Shop power is #8 and #6 copper in conduit, plus the occasional 2/0 feeder from a panel replacement. Those feeders are heavy and short, which makes them a flatbed item even when the footage is small. If the shop has a scale, weight tells you more about a feeder coil than the outside diameter does.
Grain terminal and rail loading
Control cable from a terminal runs in trays and conduits and is often numbered every few inches. If the numbers are readable, the cable is identifiable even without a tag. Photograph a stretch of jacket, not the whole spool. Control cable numbers repeat along the run, which means a two-foot sample identifies the whole thing.
Motor leads and 480V feeder from a leg or a drive replacement are usually cut at both ends and left in a coil. That is normal for a maintenance take-off, and the length can be estimated from the coil size. A feeder pulled out of a leg is usually cut into two or three pieces to get it down, and each piece has to be measured on its own.

Loading and freight from Jamestown
Jamestown sits where I-94 meets US-281, so east-west freight is straightforward and north-south takes a little planning. We buy from sellers in Jamestown and the towns around it, so drums go flatbed and cartons go LTL. If a lead is coiled rather than reeled, band it before pickup so it does not unwind in the trailer.
